2011 Vintage Notes
2011 was a difficult growing year and vineyard management included an atypically severe green drop and leaf removal and many passes to remove diseased berries and clusters. We waited and waited for flavors to develop, and, at long last, the humidity dropped, the flavors peaked and we harvested a hard-won crop of richly developed Cabernet Sauvignon.
2011 Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon Tasting Notes
The wine opens with intense aromas of blackberry preserves, muscovado sugar, and graham cracker. The wine is immediately generous, unctuous in body, overflowing with cherry and blackberry flavors, with hints of cola nut, baking spices and cassis. The wine draws you back again and again with velvety power, rich fruit, and supple, completely integrated tannins. While this will last in the cellar, it shows so well in its youth that there really isn't any reason to hold on to it for more than a coupld of years. Life is uncertain - drink up!
